Leveraging 34-years of success in real estate, Mark provides brokerage and advisory services to buyers, sellers, and investors. Having experience in appraisal (including tax assessments), real estate brokerage, mortgage financing, property management and property ownership provides him with a unique perspective when he reviews, analyzes, and provides solutions to his clients’ real estate needs.

My Background – I completed my bachelor’s degree in economics and computer science in 1989 from the University of Toronto and York University. I started in real estate in 1990, resulting in 34 years of total real estate experience with the last 20 years in North Texas.

The first 9 years of my career were in appraisal, which included earning the AACI designation in Canada.

My appraisal experience included a 2-year position in mass appraisal (British Columbia Assessment Authority) where I valued high-end residential properties in West Vancouver, hotels and motels along the Sunshine Coast, and golf courses throughout the North Shore of Vancouver.

In 1999, I joined Colliers International to focus and grow the Residential Rental Apartment Building brokerage business. After 3 years of successful growth, I left in 2002 – at the time, I was ranked in the top 5 sales agents’ country-wide at Colliers in Canada.

During that same period, I established a real estate consulting and appraisal firm (Meras Property Co) providing fee-for-service consulting and appraisal services to various financial and real estate stakeholders. Appraisal assignments included mortgage financing, assessment disputes, court-ordered valuations, and feasibility studies. A strong relationship was formed with the Royal Bank of Canada, providing appraisal for commercial mortgage financing.

In 2002, I was offered a position with the Royal Bank of Canada as a Commercial Mortgage Loan Originator at the head office in downtown Toronto. In addition to daily commercial originator duties, I was also assigned the Homestead Land Holdings portfolio account including more than $1B in value of residential real estate.

I was hired as the CEO for Patient Place (formerly known as Family Medical Clinics of Dallas) & Dallas Medical Holdings in 2004, which is when I moved to Texas. This was a tremendous opportunity and experience as the operational side of the medical business allowed me to serve the medically under-served community, and the real estate side of the business allowed me to grow the medical office portfolio. It was a win-win situation on all fronts. Both companies were sold in 2016.

That same year, I formed Nexus Property Group and Paragon Property Co to act as sponsor and syndicator for the purchase, management, and disposition of Multi-Residential Properties on behalf of accredited investors. After several successful investment deals, Nexus Property Group sold its last property in 2023, which was a 120-unit rental apartment building.
